People's Livelihood Projects Advance Steadily

According to the information released by the Hunan Provincial Bureau of Statistics on October 11 that, 10 of Hunan's 22 key livelihood projects have been steadily advanced in the first three quarters. Among them, 13 projects have completed the annual targets ahead of schedule, and others have been carried out on or ahead of schedule.


Infrastructure construction has been accelerated. In the first three quarters, Hunan completed a total investment of 12.149 billion yuan to improve and transform 5,218.71 kilometers of rural tourist, resource, and industrial roads, and build 6,205.74 kilometers of rural highway security facilities, completing 104.4% and 103.4% of the annual tasks respectively. It added water storage capacity of 40.3315 million cubic meters, and restored and improved 676,400 mu (45,093 ha.) of irrigation area, completing 89.6% and 96.6% of the annual tasks respectively. Besides, 1,462 shanty towns started renovation, reaching 97.5% of the annual target.


Medical care service continues to improve. In the first three quarters, Hunan offered 283,900 free prenatal screenings to pregnant women and 263,100 free screenings to congenital heart disease in newborns, completing 94.6% and 87.7% of the annual targets respectively. A total of 965 medical institutions in 123 counties, urban districts, and at the provincial level achieved direct cross-provincial settlement of general outpatient medical expenses, and 14 coordinated districts realized direct cross-provincial settlement of 5 outpatient chronic disease treatment expenses, both completing the annual tasks.


Pension services keep improving. In the first three quarters, Hunan has invested 67.4274 million yuan in the aging-friendly transformation of homes for the elderly with difficulties, and completed the aging-friendly transformation of 16,209 households. It is now stepping up the building of new nursing-type beds in elderly institutions, and has completed a total investment of 525 million yuan. 680 nursing beds have been built, and the overall progress of the project has reached 85%.


Education safety continues to be strengthened. In the first three quarters, Hunan has injected a total investment of 12.179 billion yuan to increase the proportion of public compulsory education enrollment, adding 440,000 new public compulsory education vacancies and completing 117% of the annual target.
