President Xi Jinping has made inspection tours to Hunan Province three times since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) held in 2012. In addition, President Xi attended a deliberation of the Hunan delegation at the fourth session of the 12th National People's Congress in 2016 and made effective instructions. He has called for more efforts to break new ground in promoting high-quality development, called on Hunan to better serve the country's new development pattern, and asked the province to demonstrate a renewed sense of responsibility in promoting the rise of the country's central region and the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and write a new chapter in upholding and developing socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era.
