The Changsha Economic and Technological Development Zone (CETDZ) held a conference on October 10 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of its establishment and promote key projects. The conference summarized and reviewed CETDZ's achievements and experience in the past 30 years, and put forward the goal of striving to be in the front rank among national economic and technological development zones.
The foundation stone laying ceremony for CETDZ (formerly Changsha Xingsha Development Zone) was held on October 8, 1992. In the following eight years, CETDZ has transformed from a county-level zone to a provincial one and then to a national one. In 2020, CETDZ became a part of the Hunan Pilot Free Trade Zone, showing strong development momentum.
After 30 years of development, CETDZ has 294 industrial enterprises above designated size, including 5 national specialized manufacturing champions and 22 national "little giants", or leading small and medium enterprises that specialize in niche sectors. In 2022, Sany Group, Lens Technology Group and China Railway Construction Heavy Industry Corporation, made the list of China's top 100 listed companies. The gross output value of large industrial businesses in CETDZ reached 250 billion yuan. CETDZ's comprehensive development level ranked 14th among 217 national economic and technological development zones, and its business environment ranked 7th nationwide.
The conference announced the progress of three groups of key projects. This year, CETDZ has launched and developed 247 high-quality projects, with a total investment of 132.7 billion yuan. The projects involve engineering machinery, automobile and parts, electronic information and other industries. In addition, the zone has a number of high-quality projects under negotiation. Among them, there are 22 key projects with an investment of about 55.2 billion yuan.
