A railway special line of Yueyang's Chenglingji Port, launched by the Hunan Lin-Gang Development and Investment Group Co., Ltd., opened to traffic on October 9, 2022. A number of full containers were loaded onto freight trains at the port, and transported to their destinations such as Chongqing and Guangzhou. The opening of this special line marked the realization of "hardware connectivity" in infrastructure for the rail-sea combined transport service of the Chenglingji New Port Area.
The line is located in the Multi-modal Transportation Logistics Park, on the west of the Chenglingji New Port Area. Consisting two loading and unloading tracks and a track for vehicles, the whole operation line reaches 850 meters in length and can accommodate 100 vehicles at the same time. A fully-loaded train can complete one-stop services including arrival, unloading and uploading of shipments, and dispatch within 5 hours.
As one of China's 12 key projects of rail-sea transport service along the Yangtze River, this special line will stretch westward to Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and further to Central Asia and Europe, to serve the China-Europe freight trains; southward to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to link with the Hunan-Guangdong-Africa rail-sea transport service; and, southwestward to Guangxi's Qinzhou Port, to connect the new western land-sea corridor of China. The influence and capacity of Chenglingji Port as a sea-rail transport hub is enhancing.
