Zhang Qingwei, secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and director of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial People's Congress, inspected the protection of cultural relics and the inheritance of Hunan's history and culture at the Changsha Jiandu Museum (Jiandu: bamboo or wooden slips) on the afternoon of September 27, 2022. He asked to thoroughly study and implement the important instructions made by President Xi Jinping on museum work and the spirit of his speeches, directives, and instructions on Hunan Province; actively promote the protection, utilization of cultural relics, and the preservation, passing-down of cultural heritage; preserve the fine accomplishments of Chinese civilization and use cultural relics to promote exchanges and mutual learning between civilizations; bring cultural relics and heritage back to life; and, promote the high-quality development of the museum industry in Hunan Province.

Changsha Jiandu Museum is the first modern thematic museum in China that integrates collection, protection, arrangement, research, and display of bamboo and wooden slips. Its collection of cultural relic resources of bamboo and wooden slips accounts for nearly one third of the national total.
Secretary Zhang, on behalf of the provincial Party committee and the provincial government, expressed cordial greetings and heartfelt thanks to the provincial museum workers who stick to their posts and dedicate silently. He noted that Hunan has a long history, outstanding people, and rich cultural relics. We must coordinate the protection of cultural relics, academic research, and cultural inheritance, and strive to protect and inherit the precious wealth left by our predecessors.

He emphasized that efforts should be made to:
- Make full use of modern technical means, strengthen digital protection of cultural relics, innovate the way of display and exhibition, and better present the infinite charm of Chinese civilization;
- Strengthen the sorting, study, and interpretation of historical materials of bamboo and wooden slips and cultural relics, deeply excavate the multiple values of cultural relics and heritage, enhance publicity and promotion, explore new interpretation methods and dissemination methods, and increase the popularity and influence of bamboo and wooden slips and cultural relics; and,
- Attach great importance to the reform and development of Hunan's museums, strengthen policy and financial support, and strive to create new prospects for the development of Hunan's museums.
