On September 6, an autonomous rail rapid transit (ART) train was delivered from the Hunan CRRC Zhixing Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the CRRC Zhuzhou Institute Co., Ltd. It will be shipped to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) through the Guangzhou Port in 10 days. This was CRRC's first mass delivery of ART trains to foreign client.
More than 70 countries and regions had negotiated introducing the ART trains, said Chen Jian, deputy general manager of the CRRC Zhuzhou Institute. The ART train has become a new powerful tool to promote China's advanced manufacturing to the world.
The ART was originated by the CRRC Zhuzhou Institute, featuring low investment cost in infrastructure, short construction period, and strong adaptability. Debuting in 2017, it has been used in several domestic cities, including Hubei's Yibing, Heilongjiang's Harbin, and Shaanxi's Xi'an, as a result of its innovative superiority in technology, product, and operation mode. There are 4 ART lines in operation, 10 lines under construction, and more than 40 lines in the plan. This year, the ART train has achieved breakthroughs in overseas business. Two projects of more than 40 ART trains in UAE and Malaysia were contracted.
The UAE ART project was contracted in this July. The contracted trains would be produced in the Zhuzhou and Yibing factories of the CRRC Zhixing Technology Co., Ltd. The first delivered trains will be used for shuttle service at the Formula 1 Racing which will kick off on the Yas Island in Abu Dhabi this November.
