The Hunan Provincial Expressway Traffic Police Station, the Hunan Provincial Expressway Road Network Operation Monitoring Command Center, the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and the Hunan Provincial Meteorological Service Center jointly released the "Special Report on the Operation of the Hunan Provincial Expressway Road Network During the 2022 Mid-Autumn Festival" on September 6. Expressways will not be toll-free during the 3-day Mid-Autumn Festival holiday (September 10th to 12th). The report predicted that the peak day of expressway traffic will appear on September 10 (Mid-Autumn Festival), with a peak traffic volume of about 2.98 million vehicles.

According to the current situation of COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control in various places, the total traffic flow of the expressway network provincewide during the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday will get busier than usual, mainly for short- and medium-distance driving visits to relatives and tourist sites within Hunan Province. The expressway network will present a regional short-distance tidal traffic flow centered on Changsha and other cities. The traffic flow on the expressways around Changsha and the national trunk line expressways will surge compared with usual times, and intermittent and band traffic may occur on some road sections. The G4 Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway and the G60 Shanghai-Kunming Expressway may witness large number of trucks, accounting for 25% of the total. The complex road traffic conditions may easily lead to delays or congestion. Drivers and passengers are encouraged to avoid the above sections as much as possible or travel at different times and peaks.
