Emperor Shun is one of the five grate emperors in the ancient China, and also the founder of Chinese moral civilization. The Mausoleum of Emperor Shun on Jiuyi Mountain is the earliest and longest-standing temple in China to worship the ancestor. Beginning from the Xia Dynasty (2100 BC-1600 BC), it has been reputed as the "No.1 Mausoleum in China" as a place of worship of Chinese ancestors.
The memorial ceremony this year is the sixth session after the ceremony was initiated by the Hunan Provincial People's Government in 2005.
