The train G6518 bound for Yiyang South Station departed from the Changsha Station Intercity Yard at 6:55 on September 6. It marked that the opening of the Yiyang-Changsha section of Chongqing-Xiamen High-speed Railway. Now high-speed railway services are available to all of the 13 cities and one prefecture in Hunan.
Located in northwest Hunan, Yiyang-Changsha section is an important part of Chongqing-Xiamen High-speed Railway and Hohhot-Nanning High-speed Railway in China's "Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal" high-speed railway network. It passes two cities and six counties (districts). The 64.2-kilometer line has a designed speed of 350 km/h. Its opening is of great significance for optimizing the traffic structure of Hunan and promoting the economic and social development of the regions along the route. As the Changsha West Railway Station is under construction, the Yiyang-Changsha section is linked with the Changsha Station Intercity Yard via the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan Intercity Railway, so as to facilitate the travel of passengers. There are ten passenger stations in total, namely: Yiyang South Station, Ningxiang West Station, Changsha West Station (passenger services not available now), Lugu Station, Jianshan Station, Gushan Station, Bafangshan Station, Guanshaling Station, Kaifu Temple Station, and Changsha Station Intercity Yard.
