A special investment promotion conference of the Airport Area of Hunan Pilot Free Trade Zone Changsha Area was held on September 2 afternoon. The theme of the conference was "building the first civil UAV town in China". Liu Daxiang, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, was present. Qiu Jixing, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee and secretary of the CPC Working Committee of the Hunan Pilot Free Trade Zone Changsha Area, presided over the conference. Huang Liang, vice chairman of the CPPCC Changsha Municipal Committee, attended.

A white paper on the development of UAV industry in the Airport Area of Hunan Pilot Free Trade Zone Changsha Area was released on site. The airport area's management committee signed strategic cooperation agreements with the Hunan Provincial Emergency Management Department and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association of China (AOPA) respectively. Sixteen key projects worth 26.5 billion yuan were inked, including airport manufacturing, aviation services, aviation logistics and other preferred airport-related projects. This marked that a complete industrial chain for the aviation industry integrating R&D, design, manufacturing, training and application has been taking shape in the airport area.

A UAV industrial park covering nearly 3,000 mu (200 ha.) has been planned in the airport area. Centering on leading industries such as aviation manufacturing, aviation services and aviation logistics, 38 new major projects have been introduced this year, with a total investment of 22.6 billion yuan. The annual output value of these projects and related supporting industries in the airport area will exceed 10 billion yuan each in the next three years, and 50 billion yuan in five years. In ten years, the airport area will develop into a demonstration zone for the 100-billion-yuan UAV industry.
