The First Forum on Craftsmen of the Nation will take place in Changsha between September 1 and 2. A total of 87 craftsmen will share their hard-working stories and interpret the spirit of craftsmanship.

The forum is hosted by the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, and the Hunan Provincial People's Government. The forum's theme is "realizing dreams through craftsmanship and making contributions to building a strong China". An array of activities will be held, including keynote speeches, field interviewing, theory-related seminar, and a forum on craftswomen. Experts and craftsmen will give lectures on the Vocational Education Law and Craftsmen Cultivation, Social Environment Construction and Craftsmen Cultivation, and Create Better Social Environment and Work Environment for Craftswomen.

The forum specially sets up the Hunan Model Workers and Craftsmen Innovation Achievements Exhibition to show innovation achievements of craftsmen from the province's 13 cities and one prefecture, labor unions directly under the jurisdiction of the Hunan government, and large enterprises. In recent years, the province has implemented the strategy for invigorating Hunan through science and education, the strategy on developing a quality workforce, and the innovation-driven development strategy. The province has made solid progress in strengthening technical professional cultivation as a strategic task. A growing number of technicians and skilled workers with optimized structure and higher quality have been trained. So far, Hunan has 5.32 million technical professionals, including 1.525 million high-skilled workers, accounting for 28.67% of the total skilled talents.
