Hunan Vice Governor Li Jianzhong met in Shaoyang with Khamphao Ernthavanh, Lao ambassador to China, on August 25.

Vice Governor Li welcomed Ambassador Khamphao Ernthavanh and appreciated her attendance at the first Hunan-ASEAN Investment and Trade Fair. He introduced Hunan's economy, culture, history, and regional advantages. He mentioned that, guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, Hunan is marching forward full of confidence to build a new modern socialist Hunan in all respects. The prospects are bright. The first Hunan-ASEAN Investment and Trade Fair is held in beautiful and vigorous Shaoyang. It is a substantial practice of fully implementing the decisions and plans of the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, and also a forceful action of Hunan to leverage its regional advantages, deepen cooperation and exchange with ASEAN countries, and promote mutual development. Hunan is accelerating its pace in constructing a new land trade corridor which starts from Huaihua, passes through Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and links to ASEAN, so as to reinforce exchange and collaboration with ASEAN countries.

Ambassador Khamphao Ernthavanh expressed gratitude to Hunan and Shaoyang governments to invite her to the fair which will contribute to the friendly cooperation between ASEAN and Hunan Province. She expected, through her tours and related activities, to facilitate the economic and trade cooperation between Hunan and Laos, and other ASEAN countries. She wished Hunan more fruitful results in economic and social development.

After the meeting, provincial leaders and distinguished guests attended the opening ceremony of the first Hunan-ASEAN Investment and Trade Fair, also the fifth ASEAN-Hunan (Shaoyang) Well-known and High-quality Products Fair.
