The 2022 Hunan (Nanshan) Liuyueliu Folk Song Festival will be held in Chengbu Miao Autonomous County on September 23, according to the organizing committee on August 24.
The festival theme is "Singing a Folk Song to the CPC and We Are All of the Same Family". Five major activities will be held, including:
-- Online Folk Song Contest;
-- Featured products exhibition and tourism investment presentation;
-- An opening ceremony and art performances;
-- Immersive folk culture experience activities; and,
-- Driving tours around Nanshan National Park in Chengbu Miao Autonomous County.
The festival will last till the end of September. The main venue is located in Chengbu, with more offline events to be arranged in villages across the county and online events to be held nationwide.
The Liuyueliu Folk Song Festival originated from Chang'an'ying Town, Chengbu Miao Autonomous County. It has been held for 23 years and became one of the four major ethnic festival brands in Hunan Province. The festival won the excellent festival award for celebrating the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening-up and the title of "excellent modern Chinese festival". It was established as one of the fourth batch of demonstration projects of national public cultural service system.
In recent years, Chengbu has made efforts to increase the popularity of Nanshan National Park and Liuyueliu Folk Song Festival. The county promotes integration of culture and tourism through launching summer heat escaping tours, red or revolutionary tours, study tours, and folk custom tours. In 2021, the county received 4.85 million tourist arrivals and achieved a comprehensive tourism income of 4.5 billion yuan.
