Changsha Becomes "Fifth City in the Internet Industry"

The Hunan Provincial People's Government Information Office held a press conference for the 2022 National Industrial APP and Information Consumption Competition on August 19 morning. Xiong Chen, chief economist of the Hunan Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology introduced that, in recent years, Hunan has accelerated the progress of digital industrialization and industry digitalization, and vigorously developed digital economy. The province's mobile internet industry has maintained a growth rate of more than 20% for eight consecutive years. Changsha ranked first among cities in central China in terms of internet development comprehensive index, making it the "fifth city in the internet industry".

"A number of general and special industrial APPs have been applied in manufacturing scenarios at an accelerated pace, and 11 excellent industrial APPs at the national level and 15 at the provincial level have been cultivated," according to Xiong Chen. By the end of the first half of 2022, the number of industrial APPs in Hunan has exceeded 25,000. Over 18,000 industrial APPs have been developed by major industrial internet platforms. The industrial technology software application rate in key business links of industrial APP innovation application enterprises has reached 53.7%.

Hunan has seen a growth rate of more than 20% in the mobile internet industry for eight consecutive years. Many well-known industry-leading enterprises, such as Huawei, Wondershare Technology, Baidu, Sangfor and 58 Group, have settled in Hunan. Changsha, the capital city of Hunan Province, ranked first among cities in central China in the internet development comprehensive index. It became the "fifth city in the internet industry" after Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Hangzhou. In addition, the work of establishing Changsha as a famous software city in China is accelerating.

In the January-June period this year, Hunan-based mobile internet businesses made a revenue of 112.8 billion yuan, up 21.6% year on year, and the revenue in the software industry surged 13.3% year on year to 51.59 billion yuan.

The development of new-generation information technology industries has been accelerated. There are 12 big data industrial parks, 2 artificial intelligence (AI) industrial parks, and 2 blockchain industrial parks in Hunan. In the first half of this year, the output value of the province's AI core industries exceeded 8.96 billion yuan, up 26% year on year; and that of the big data industry reached 36.89 billion yuan, up 30% year on year.

In 2021, Hunan's digital economy hit 1.3 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 17%. It has maintained double-digit growth for four consecutive years.
