A work conference on ensuring provision of natural resources for the provincial key projects was held on August 19. According to the conference, between January and July, Hunan government approved 925 applications of project land use involving a total area of 111,200 mu (about 7,450 ha.). Among them, 166 applications for 57,200 mu (about 383 ha.) of land for the key projects above provincial level were approved, taking up 51.4% of all land-use approvals of the province and making a record high in the history of key projects support in the same period.
Transportation projects are major users of land. In the first seven months, 46,900 mu (about 3,142 ha.) of land were approved for transportation projects, including 40,600 mu (about 2,706 ha.) for expressways, 715 mu (47.6 ha.) for railways, and 5,594 mu (372.9 ha.) for national and provincial highways. Hence, land use for four expressways are ensured, including the G59 Expressway Zhangjiajie-Guanzhuang section, the Changde-Yiyang-Changsha High-speed Railway Stations supporting facilities, and the S229 Provincial Highway Xintian Guankou-Huangshaxi section.
A total of 2,095 mu (139.7 ha.) of land were approved for energy projects, providing strong support for the Xinjiang coal gasification project Guangxi pipeline Hunan section, as a key part of the Hunan gasification project.
Water security projects were approved with 466 mu (31 ha.) of land. The Lianyuan Fuke Reservoir and Mayang Donguachong Reservoir are under construction.
Logistics projects got 1,472 mu (98 ha.) of land, ensuring the major logistics ports such as the Huaihua International Land Port.
Besides, 6,312 mu (420.8 ha.) of land were approved for the projects related to information technology, people's wellbeing, education, sci-tech innovation, and industrial parks. An array of 5G infrastructure, sewage treatment, Furong Schools, and high-end equipment manufacturing projects were carried out.
Against the overall declining trend of land-use approvals in Hunan Province, the approvals for land use of the key projects above the provincial level rose by 5.11% year on year. This shows the role of the key projects as the anchor to stabilize the economy, said Li Quansheng, deputy director of the Hunan Department of Natural Resources.
