The First Hunan Intangible Cultural Heritage Expo will take place at Dayong Ancient Town, Zhangjiajie City between September 18 and 21.
The expo is hosted by the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and the Zhangjiajie Municipal People's Government. There is a main exhibition area focusing on intangible cultural heritage items and a performance area to greet the upcoming 20th National Congress of the CPC.
The main exhibition area is consisted of a theme area and eight special exhibition areas. At the theme area, six Hunan items inscribed on UNESCO intangible cultural heritage list and 28 intangible cultural heritage items with the most distinguished feature will be on display. The thirteen cities and one prefecture in Hunan province will present 2 items each.

At the eight special exhibition areas, visitors will be able to learn about the results of cultural tourism exchanges between Hunan and Heilongjiang and between Hunan and Xinjiang, see exquisite porcelains, taste Hunan cuisines and snacks, and experience traditional medical items with Hunan characteristics. People can also closely feel the inheritance and development of intangible cultural heritage items through new forms of business and achievements, including intangible cultural heritage themed homestays; cultural and creative products; script murder; and, room escape, a real-life adventure game.
The performance area features diversified intangible cultural heritage item performances, exhibitions, and parades. Local operas and intangible cultural heritage-themed traditional music, dance, sports, and Quyi art performances will be staged.
