Hunan to Introduce Greater Support for Self-employed Households

The Hunan Provincial Departments Joint Conference for Supporting Self-employed Households held its first plenary meeting on August 17. The meeting designated this September as the provincial "Self-employed Households Service Month", and adopted 28 major tasks for recent work in eight aspects. It focused on the most pressing difficulties and problems that are of great concern to the self-employed households, and urged to form strong synergy, to help these households to cope with the difficult situation and grow healthily.

In recent years, Hunan has achieved fruitful results in supporting the development of the self-employed households. By the end of July, there were 4.686 million self-employed households, accounting for 75.1% of the market entities of the province. Self-employed business has become a significant driver for Hunan's economic prosperity, reforms, and development.

The meeting deliberated the key tasks for recent work of the joint conference, and adopted 28 measures in eight aspects, including stepping up policy support; creating a fair market environment; lowering operating costs of the self-employed households; intensifying financial support; improving entrepreneurship and vocational training service for the self-employed individuals; completing social security services; and, enhancing coordination to form strong synergy.

Led by the Hunan Administration for Market Regulation, the joint conference consists of 12 member departments, including Hunan Development and Reform Commission; Hunan Department of Industry and Information Technology; Hunan Justice Department; Hunan Department of Finance; Hunan Department of Hunan Resources and Social Security; Hunan Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development; Hunan Department of Transportation; Hunan Department of Commerce; Hunan Administration for Market Regulation; the People's Bank of China Changsha Central Sub-branch; Hunan Administration of Tax Service; and, Hunan Banking and Insurance Regulatory Bureau. A joint conference system was adopted from the perspectives of meeting system, information notification, negotiation, investigation and survey, and supervision.

In the coming September, the Hunan Administration for Market Regulation will work together with the other 11 member departments of the joint conference and related units to launch the first provincial "Self-employed Households Service Month". Aiming at the difficulties and demands of the self-employed households, all forces will be motivated to boost implementation of the relief policies, arouse social concerns, and jointly promote a sound and healthy development of self-employed business.
