The Publicity Department of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee held a press conference on "Hunan's Cultural Tourism in the Past Decade" on August 14. Relevant persons in charge of the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism attended the conference and answered questions from journalists.
Li Aiwu, deputy director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and secretary of the CPC Leadership Group and director of the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, briefed journalists on Hunan's development of cultural tourism in the past ten years. Qing Lixin, deputy director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and director of the Information Office of the Hunan Provincial People's Government, presided over the conference.
Hunan has achieved remarkable progress over the past decade in cultural and tourism development. More than 140 large-scaled and excellent plays have been created based on the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects and the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC). Da Di Song Ge (the Ode to Hometown) and Peach Flowers in Misty Rain were among the list of twelve targeted poverty alleviation-themed shows selected by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Eleven works from Hunan Province were selected into the National Project to the Distillation of the Stage Art by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to celebrate CPC centenary. The figure ranked second nationwide.
The all-for-one tourism strategy has been implemented, and tourism has become a new engine for economic growth. At present, Hunan Province has 2 world natural heritage sites, 2 global geoparks, 7 all-for-one tourism demonstration areas (ranking 7th nationwide), 11 national 5A-level tourist attractions, and 151 national 4A-level tourist attractions. Hunan Province's total tourism revenue saw an average annual growth rate of 19.3% over the past decade. The province's total tourism revenue will reach 1.3 trillion yuan by 2025.
Culture and tourism have made important contributions to poverty alleviation and rural revitalization. Thirteen high-quality travel routes were planned and constructed in poverty-stricken areas of Wuling, Xuefeng and Luoxiao mountains, driving the development of 689 villages and building 55 typical cases of poverty alleviation through tourism. Through tourism development, more than 1 million people in the province has been lifted out of poverty in direct or indirect way.
