A press conference on "China in the Past Decade: Hunan" was held on the morning of August 5, 2022. Zhang Qingwei, secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and director of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial People's Congress, delivered a keynote speech and answered questions from journalists. He noted that in recent years, Hunan has vigorously implemented the all-for-one tourism strategy, focused on creating "five calling cards", and further accelerated the establishment of world-renowned tourist destinations.

The "five calling cards" involve the unique and beautiful landscape represented by Zhangjiajie; the red or revolutionary tradition represented by Shaoshan; the urban leisure life represented by Changsha; the farming culture represented by the ancient cultural site of Chengtoushan; and, the history and culture represented by Hengshan Mountain (Nanyue). Remarkable achivements have been made on provincial tourism service quality, tourism governance modernization, and tourism benefit maximization.

Secretary Zhang remarked that in order to further speed up the building of world-renowned tourist destinations, the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the People's Government of Hunan Province decided to hold a tourism development conference annually since 2022. Efforts will be made to integrate projects, funds, policies, and other elements; speed up infrastructure construction, overall environment optimization, industry integrated development, and economic and social development in the host cities; and, strive to achieve the goal of "making the host city thrive by holding the conference".

The first Hunan Tourism Development Conference will be held in Zhangjiajie this September in both online and offline forms. It consists of 3 main activities: the opening ceremony and the entertainment evening party, the cultural and tourism project observation, and the Hunan tourism industry development promotion conference; 5 supporting activities; and, 28 serial activities before and after the conference.

Secretary Zhang stated that since the 18th CPC National Congress, Hunan has given full play to its advantages in resources; made innovations on the basis of tradition to achieve cultural prosperity and development; vigorously promoted all-for-one tourism; and, made new progress and stepped up in the construction of a strong cultural powerhouse and the development of the cultural and tourism industry.

According to the cultural and tourism development plan of Hunan Province during the "14th Five-Year" Plan period, the operating income of cultural enterprises above designated size in Hunan Province will exceed 500 billion yuan by 2025, and the total annual revenue of tourism will reach about 1.3 trillion yuan.
