A press conference on Hunan's economic and social development in the first half of 2022 was held on July 17. The conference announced that, in the first half this year, a total of 404,200 jobs were added, 221,500 unemployed people found work, and 60,600 people with difficulties in finding jobs got employed. The figures respectively marked that 57.7%, 73.8%, and 60.6% of their respective annual targets had been fulfilled. The provincewide surveyed urban unemployment rate was 5.5%, which was 0.2 percentage points lower than the national level.
In spite of scattered outbreaks of the COVID-19 and downward pressure in economy, Hunan has maintained stable employment, which do not come easily, said a person in charge of the National Bureau of Statistics Survey Office in Hunan Province. The stable resumption of economy in Hunan Province laid a solid foundation for stable employment, and multiple effective measures in stabilizing employment helped employment rebound.
In the first half, Hunan had reinforced efforts in easing enterprises' burden and keeping their payroll stable. Multi-pronged policies in cutting fees of unemployment and work-related injury insurances, and deferring payment of social insurance premiums, have been leveraged. Tasks have been done to ensure the bottom line of employment of key groups, including college graduates, rural migrant workers, and people facing difficulties. An updated data base of the people with difficulties in finding jobs was established to carry out targeted employment assistance and help the people with difficulties in finding jobs get employed in accordance with their wishes.
