On the morning of July 15, Zheng Jianxin, deputy secretary of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee and mayor of Changsha, met in Changsha with Mr. Somkhit Vankham, consul general of the Lao PDR to Changsha and his delegation. Xu Fan, secretary-general of the Changsha Municipal People's Government, was present.
Mayor Zheng Jianxin noted that, in recent years, Changsha has seen steady growth in economic aggregate, and a constant improvement in the quality of urban construction and management. Changsha is a happy, safe and internet-famous city. Changsha and Laos enjoy close exchanges and fruitful cooperation. The Consulate General of Lao PDR to Changsha has played a crucial role in boosting bilateral cooperation and enhancing traditional friendship. It is hoped that the two sides will further deepen economic and trade cooperation, strengthen agricultural cooperation, expand people-to-people and cultural exchanges, further carry forward their friendship under the guidance of the Belt and Road Initiative, and make new contributions to building an even closer China-Laos community with a shared future.
Consul General Somkhit Vankham said that, Changsha and Laos enjoy a sound foundation and huge potential for cooperation. He hoped that the two sides will further expand exchanges and cooperation between their cities, enterprises and peoples, promote the establishment of sister city ties between Changsha and Lao cities, and strive to achieve win-win cooperation at a higher level.
