145 Major Projects Commenced or Completed at Xiangjiang New Area

A centralized commencement and completion ceremony for 145 major projects covering the whole Xiangjiang New Area was held on July 14, 2022. These were the first batch of construction projects approved after the Xiangjiang New Area optimized its management system, which will provide impetus for thoroughly carrying out the  Strategy of “Strengthening the Provincial Capital”. 

The projects of this batch, with a total investment hitting 60.4 billion yuan, cover the aspects of industrial development, infrastructure, and people’s wellbeing. Among them, 80 are major industrial projects, with a total investment of 40.3 billion yuan and an annual investment of 18.7 billion yuan. They all feature sizable investment, high sci-tech content, and strong drive for industrial development. Many emerging industries with strategic significance are covered, such as semi-conductor, equipment manufacturing, biological medicine, and medical apparatus and instruments.

The Xiangjiang New Area planned 730 major projects this year, with an annual investment of 160 billion yuan. As of the end of June, 128 billion yuan has been invested, accounting for 79% of the annual investment plan which was 15 percentage points higher than the figure of the same period last year.

Tan Yong, deputy secretary of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee, Party chief of the Hunan Xiangjiang New Area, and also secretary of the CPC Yuelu District Committee, mentioned that, a series of special campaigns are implemented in the Xiangjiang New Area. These campaigns include the competition in economic development, safety risk treatment, and improvement of people’s wellbeing. All these efforts aim to boost project construction, help enterprises, optimize business environment, and pave the way for a successful 20th CPC National Congress.
