The 2022 Green Food Promotion Month Hunan event was launched in Loudi City on July 12. It was co-hosted by the China Green Food Development Center and the Hunan Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
The theme was "Green Production, Green Consumption, and Green Development". The event aimed to raise the profile and influence of green food brands, boost development of green food industry, and promote green food to take center stage on people's dining tables.
Hunan sets an annual goal of increasing the number of authorized green and organic produces to 3,600 this year. By the end of June, there were 3,558 produces in the range, including 3,155 green food, 275 organic agricultural produces, and 128 geological indication agricultural products. With the provincial fiscal support, the Hunan Green Food Office opened a green channel of certification for the areas that have been lifted out of poverty. In the first half of this year, 43.7% of the newly certified products were from such areas, ten percentage points higher than that in late 2021.
The Hunan Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs required to vigorously promote agricultural produces with green and organic certification, and create a virtuous circle of "high quality production - consumer satisfaction - farmers' income increase – increasingly ecological production – higher quality agricultural production". These will provide guarantee for quality raw materials of Hunan food, stimulate broader market, prosper related industry, and boost rural revitalization in an all-round way.
