People's Livelihood Projects Achieve Half of Annual Targets in H1

How about the progress of major livelihood issues such as education, medical care, housing, pension, and infrastructure in Hunan Province during the first half of the year 2022? It was learned from the Hunan Provincial Bureau of Statistics on July 7 that in the first half of the year (H1), Hunan's 22 key livelihood projects of 10 categories were advanced smoothly, and 21 achieved more than half of the targets in H1.


Education safety guarantee has been continuously strengthened. In order to increase the proportion of public compulsory education enrollment, 255,400 public compulsory education degrees were newly added in Hunan Province in H1. The Chuyi Program for vocational education has completed an accumulated investment of 192 million yuan, and finished the construction of 10,995 security equipment in key areas such as networked primary and secondary schools and kindergartens.


Medical and health insurance coverage has been much wider. In the first half of the year, 195,700 pregnant women received free prenatal screening, 158,000 newborns were screened for congenital heart disease free of charge, and 696,900 rural eligible and urban low-income women were provided with screening services for cervical and breast cancers for free. More than half of the annual targets were completed. There were 600 medical institutions of 123 counties and districts (including the provincial level) opened inter-provincial direct settlement of general outpatient medical expenses, completing 100% of the annual target.


The security of elderly care services has been steadily advanced. Hunan Province managed to renovate 6,123 households suitable for the aged in H1, and is stepping up the construction of new nursing beds in elderly care institutions. The barrier-free reconstruction of 12,348 households with disabilities has been carried out.


The infrastructure construction has been accelerated. In the first half of the year, 2,992.38 kilometers of rural tourism, resource, and industrial roads were upgraded and renovated in Hunan Province, completing 59.8% of the annual target; 3,267.93 kilometers of rural road security facilities were constructed, completing 54.5% of the annual task; and, 892 old urban communities started renovation. 


Those who living in difficulty have been assisted with higher standards. The "two subsidies" offered to those in need and the disabled of all the counties, urban districts, and rural areas provincewide have reached or exceeded their annual targets.
