The data recently released by the Hunan Statistics Bureau shows that, in 2021, Hunan had 283 commodity markets with the trading volume exceeding 100 million yuan each. The total area of these markets reached more than 11.91 million sqm, and the total trading volume exceeded 500.664 billion yuan, up 12.8% over last year.
Hunan saw an expansion of large-scaled markets in 2021. There were 58 commodity markets with the trading volume exceeding 1 billion yuan each, five more than the number of last year. There were six commodity markets with the trading volume exceeding 10 billion yuan each, with the total volume hitting 286.982 billion yuan, taking up 57.3% of the province's total.
In terms of operation mode, 147 wholesale markets made nearly 403 billion yuan of trading volume, and 136 retail markets contributed to more than 97 billion yuan.
Regarding the market category, 164 specialized markets made a trading volume of 250.359 billion yuan, increasing by 23.5%; 119 comprehensive markets, including 39 of agricultural products and 24 of industrial consumer goods, achieved a trading volume of 250.3 billion yuan, rising by 3.8%.
As for commodity category, the trading volume of food products, such as grain and edible oil, hit 217.087 billion yuan, growing by 30.6%. The growth of trading of housing related goods, such as building and decoration materials and furniture, slowed down. The volume of automobile and related products transactions was 22.174 billion yuan, shrinking by 6.5%.
