Zhang Guying Ancient Building Cultural Tourism Festival Opens

On July 2, the Zhang Guying Ancient Building Cultural Tourism Festival opened at the Zhang Guying Scenic Area, Yueyang County. He Baoxiang, vice governor of Hunan Province, announced the opening of the festival.

At the ceremony, the Hunan Institute of Science and Technology, China Association for Conservation Technology of Cultural Heritage, Shanghai Jianwei Cultural Heritage Conservation Tech. Co., Ltd., and Zhang Guying Scenic Area Administrative Office signed an agreement to build a research center for protection and utilization of traditional villages. Zhangjiajie's Wulingyuan and Yongding districts signed a tourist city alliance with Yueyang County. Baojing County and Yueyang County inked an agreement on tea industry cooperation and the authorization of Baojing golden tea.

Virtues including filial piety, harmony, diligence, and honesty have passed down among the people in Zhang Guying Village, which enjoys a history of more than 600 years. A song featuring filial piety that was performed at the opening ceremony presented family inheritance and spiritual belief rooted in the hearts of Zhang Guying's descendants for hundreds of years. A summit forum titled "Chinese Cultural Tradition and Cultural Confidence" was held. Shan Jixiang, president of the Chinese Society of Cultural Relics and former curator of the Palace Museum, gave a lecture on how to bring cultural heritage resource back to life.

The festival was concluded on July 3. A series of activities were held to enable tourists to experience the fusion of modernity and tradition, including craftsmen ancient building restoration contest, a tasting event of top ten cuisines of Yueyang County, experience of six intangible cultural heritage, a garden party, and a music festival.
