Hunan has built 2,000 service stations for those who work outdoors, according to the Hunan Federation of Trade Unions on June 30. Outdoor workers can search for the stations via map apps on their phones to have a meal, drink water, have a rest, and go to the restroom.

The Hunan Federation of Trade Unions has initiated the construction of service stations for outdoor workers since 2015, and now 13 cities and one prefecture across the province have access to the services. The Hunan Federation of Trade Unions has cooperated with neighborhoods, communities, property management companies, hotels, supermarkets, pharmacies, banks, and insurance companies.

"Most stations are equipped with intelligent purifying direct drinking machines, microwave ovens, refrigerators, books, umbrellas, and first aid kits for outdoor workers," said a person in charge of the Hunan Federation of Trade Unions. Service stations for outdoor workers in some cities have also become places for people to obtain employment information, skills training and other livelihood services. For example, the Guzhang County Federation of Trade Unions has installed an electronic display screen at the service station to release employment information throughout the day. The Xiangtan City Federation of Trade Unions and the China Construction Bank carry out publicity activities on financial knowledge popularization, protection of consumers' rights, and prevention of telecommunications and internet fraud at the service station.
