Mao Weiming, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and governor of the People's Government of Hunan Province, inspected the construction of key power infrastructure project in Yiyang on June 28 and 29, 2022. He attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the Hunan Anhua Pumped-storage Hydroelectricity Station Project held on the morning of the June 29, and announced the start of construction. Zhang Zhigang, general manager of State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC), attended the ceremony and delivered a speech.

Li Dianxun, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and executive vice governor of the People's Government of Hunan Province; Ma Zeping, a member of the CPC Leadership Group and deputy general manager of SGCC; and, Deng Qunce, secretary general of the People's Government of Hunan Province, participated in the ceremony or the inspection tour.

Before the groundbreaking ceremony, Governor Mao learned about the main contents and the construction arrangements of the project.

The Hunan Anhua Pumped-storage Hydroelectricity Station Project is located in Xianxi Town, Anhua County. It is a key energy construction project of China and Hunan Province in the "14th Five-Year Plan" period. The project has a designed installed capacity of 2.4 million kilowatts and an annual power generation capacity of 2.6 billion kilowatt-hours. The installed capacity ranks second nationwide and first in central China. Its total investment is 15.1 billion yuan and the estimated construction period is 78 months. Upon completion, it will undertake the tasks of peak shaving, valley filling, energy storage, frequency regulation, phase regulation, emergency backup, and other tasks of the provincial power system, providing safe and reliable power support for the high-quality development of Yiyang City and Hunan Province.

On the afternoon of June 28, Governor Mao came to Changan Electric Power Yiyang Co., Ltd. to inspect the capacity expansion and upgrading project.
