Changsha, Malawi to Deepen Cooperation

On the morning of June 24, Wu Guiying, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and secretary of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee, met with Ambassador of Malawi to China H. E. Allan Joseph Chintedza.

Deputy Ambassador of Malawian Embassy in China and Changsha municipal leaders Liu Yongbing and Kang Zhenlin participated.

Secretary Wu Guiying welcomed the guests and briefed them on Changsha’s basic situation. She said that Changsha is fully implementing the positioning and missions of the “Three Hubs and Four New Missions” Strategy, focusing on the two opening-up platforms -- the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo and the China-Africa Economic and Trade In-depth Cooperation Pilot Zone, and actively exploring new mechanisms of economic and trade cooperation with Africa. This year marks the 15th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Malawi. It is sincerely hoped that under the guidance of the Belt and Road Initiative, Changsha and Malawi will further deepen economic and trade cooperation, strengthen agricultural cooperation, expand people-to-people exchanges, and make new contributions to building an even closer China-Africa community with a shared future.

Ambassador Allan Joseph Chintedza said that, Malawi and Changsha enjoy broad prospects for cooperation. It is hoped that the two sides will have in-depth cooperation in infrastructure construction, hybrid rice cultivation, and talent and technology exchanges; establish a long-term cooperation mechanism so as to let more "Chinese wisdom", "Chinese experience" and "Chinese solutions" benefit the Malawian people; and, push forward new achievements in bilateral friendly and practical cooperation.
