In recent years, Yueyang government has firmly shouldered the responsibilities of Hezhangzhi (River Chief System) and Huzhangzhi (Lake Management Scheme); enhanced pollution control, emission reduction, and bank protection to ensure clean water, lush grass, and clear lake; and, strived to build a beautiful Yueyang realizing harmonious  co-existence between human and water. Between January and May, the percentage of days with good air quality was 87.4% in Yueyang, and the "excellent" or "good"rate in terms of water quality of the Yueyang section of the Yangtze River reached 100%.
