Hunan’s Largest Shield Tunnel Machine Starts Work Beneath Xiangjiang River

A "Xing Sheng" shield tunneling machine started work at the right line of the Xiangya Road River-crossing Tunnel in Changsha on June 20. As Hunan's largest shield tunneling machine by diameter, it had fulfilled its cross-Xiangjiang River tunneling mission at the left line of the tunnel last year.

The Xiangya Road River-crossing Tunnel is Changsha's first two-way six-lane tunnel crossing under the the Xiangjiang River, with a total length of 4,180 meters. It will be completed and open to traffic in 2023. (Photo/Tian Chao, Chen Xin)
