Governor Mao noted that in 2021, the provincial freight volume reached 2.24 billion tons, a year-on-year increase of 10.9%. The cargo mainly covered 16 categories, including steel, coal, construction machinery, and chemical raw materials and products. The provincial road, rail, water, and air transportation accounted for 88.4%, 2.1%, 9.5%, and 0.01% of the total respectively. The number of freight containers was 1.63 million TEUs. All of these achievements marked that Hunan’s transportation has made great progress.

The Department of Transportation of Hunan Province recently organized relevant departments and technical support units to conduct in-depth research and analysis on the logistics flow direction, quantity, and efficiency, and development orientation of 13 cities and 1 prefecture provincewide, to further learn about the conditions, and clarify thoughts and directions. Solid foundation work had been made to promote the integrated development of transportation and modern logistics.

He emphasized that modern logistics is an urgent and pragmatic problem that must be solved to promote high-quality economic development. On the basis of flow direction, quantity, and efficiency, we should speed up the construction of a modern comprehensive transportation system, continuously reduce the cost of comprehensive logistics, and enhance regional competitiveness, he added.
