The 14th Hunan Provincial Games and the 11th Hunan Provincial Paralympic Games will be held in Yueyang City this September. On the morning of June 9, the provincial government held the establishment and the first work conference of the provincial games organizing committee and the preparatory work conference for the paralympic games. Vice Governors He Baoxiang and Li Jianzhong attended and delivered speeches.

The meeting pointed out that it is necessary to:

- Thoroughly study and implement the spirit of President Xi Jinping’s speech made at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics review and awards ceremony; learn from the valuable experience of the Beijing Winter Olympics; and, strive to hold a high-level provincial games and paralympic games;

- Integrate the hosting of the games into the positioning, missions, and tasks of “Three Hubs and Four New Missions” Strategy, and make concerted efforts to love and construct Hunan Province well; and,

- Focus on the goal of “making good organization for the games, achieving the best possible athletic results at the event, and contributing to fruitful development results”; host the streamlined, green, safe, and splendid games; create unique and high-quality events; fully display Hunan’s new image and style; and, enhance Yueyang’s popularity and influence.

The meeting also called for strengthening overall planning and integrated promotion, and doing well in all preparatory work with high quality. It asked to:

- Ensure on-time completion and delivery of the venues, put the project quality first, keep the bottom line of safe production, and create high-quality projects;

- Elaborately prepare for major events such as the opening and closing ceremonies, highlighting the theme and the characteristics;

- Work carefully for the games, take athletes as the core, and do a good job in pre-competition training and volunteer services; and,

- Increase the intensity of news coverage and publicity work, and demonstrate the spirit of the Hunan people, the achievements of economic and social development and sports work, and the development achievements of the cause of the disabled.
