The annual national college entrance examination, known as gaokao, started smoothly in Hunan Province on June 7, 2022. He Baoxiang, vice governor of Hunan Province and director of the provincial college enrollment committee, inspected and instructed gaokao work on June 6 and 7, 2022. He asked to pay close attention to all issuse related to gaokao with a highly responsible attitude towards the country, society, examinees, and the masses, and ensure that the exam is held in a healthy, safe, considerate, and stable manner.

This year, there were 465,200 gaokao candidates in Hunan Province, an increase of 65,000 over the previous year. The province has 121 exam zones, 296 exam venues, 17,900 exam rooms, and nearly 60,000 staff members. A number of backup quarantine exam rooms, and exam venues in quarantine hospitals and centralized quarantine hotels have been set up.

On the morning of June 6, Vice Governor He went to the exam venue at Changsha Experimental Middle School to check gaokao arrangement, and watched the epidemic prevention and control drill on the spot. On the morning of  June 7, he visited the Hunan National Education Examination Affairs Command Center to coordinate the provincial gaokao relative affairs, and listened to relevant reports of 13 cities and 1 prefecture via video connection. He pointed out that gakao is essential to the country and the people. All relevant departments at all levels must resolutely implement their responsibilities and take measures to ensure safety and smoothness of gaokao, and maintain its fairness and justice.

He emphasized that it is necessary to:

- Take gaokao seriously, ensure the absolute security of the test papers, intensify the management of candidates’ admittance and invigilation, and resolutely put an end to fraudulent behavior;

- Take various measures to prevent and control the epidemic situation during gaokao period to ensure that all the qualified candidates can sit for the exam;

- Strengthen the security of transportation, food, and electricity, and be prepared for bad weather; and,

- Enhance humanistic care, so that the majority of candidates can take the exam in their best condition.
