They sent greetings and holiday wishes to all the children provincewide.

Secretary Zhang requested that the Party committees and governments at all levels in Hunan Province should always put education in a strategic position of priority; be concerned about and care for educators; promote high-quality, well-balanced development and urban-rural integration of compulsory education; and, accelerate the building of a strong province in science and education. Education authorities and schools at all levels should innovate educational methods based on the physical and mental characteristics of children; explore and set up quality education courses with Hunan characteristics; tell red or revolutionary stories well; and, inherit red traditions, so that children can pursue higher goals and achieve better results. The Communist Youth League organizations at all levels should better shoulder the glorious responsibility of leading the whole team of youngsters entrusted by the Party. The whole society should be concerned about and care for children, so that the “flowers of the motherland” can grow up healthily and happily in the sunshine, he added.

Governor Mao asked all the schools provincewide to ensure that education performs its fundamental mission of fostering virtue; stick to characteristics in operation; improve internal quality under the background of “double reduction”; combine traditional teaching with modern approaches, and integrate classroom teaching with scenario teaching; cultivate innovative awareness and stimulate the sci-tech interests of the children; and, care for the children to grow up happily and healthily. He hoped that children could establish lofty ideals, foster good morals, study hard, build a strong body, exercise strong physique, cultivate working habits, enrich interests and hobbies, be equipped with moral grounding, intellectual and physical ability, aesthetic sensibility and work skills, and grow into backbones of the country as soon as possible.
Deputy Secretary Zhu Guoxian visited Xinxiang Kindergarten, Experimental Primary School of Furong District, and Lushan International Experimental Primary School in Changsha City, watched the demonstration of teaching achievements and students’ cultural and sports activities, and sent holiday wishes to the children.
