The Office of Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, Shibadong Village in Huayuan County of Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, and the Mwalimu Nyerere Leadership School in Tanzania, held a meeting via video link on May 29, to launch a cloud communication and exploration tour to Shibadong Village. The theme was “New Development in the New Era: Exploration by and Exchanges between the CPC and the Former Liberation Movements of Southern Africa”.

The attendees included 120 leading cadres from six political parties in Africa – Tanzania's ruling party Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM); South Africa's African National Congress (ANC); Mozambique's ruling party Frelimo; the People's Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA); Namibia's ruling SWAPO Party; and, Zimbabwean ruling ZANU-PF party.

This event is a practical move to implement the important consensus reached between Chinese President Xi Jinping and the top leaders of the aforementioned African parties, and also a main part of the Former Liberation Movements of Southern Africa Leading Cadres Workshop 2022 at the Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Leadership School.
The participating cadres watched a documentary film jointly produced by the Office of Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture. This film told about Shibadong Village’s poverty alleviation course in an all-round, factually, and systematically way, which would offer enlightenment to African countries in their battles to reduce poverty.

Questions on some commonly-concerned issues were put forward, such as land ownership, operation mode of rural cooperatives, publicity of poverty alleviation, talent cultivation, and industrial layout. Dai Zhiguang, deputy director of the Office of Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, Chen Wensheng, director of the Research Institute of Rural Revitalization in China of Hunan Normal University, and Tian Xiao, first secretary of Shibadong Village, answered the questions meticulously.

The cadres of Zimbabwean ruling ZANU-PF party expressed appreciation to the Office of Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee for arranging the cloud exploration. ANC and MPLA cadres admired that the CPC inspired endogenous impetus of Chinese people to battle against poverty. Mozambique's Frelimo Party cadres were impressed by Chinese government’s effective poverty alleviation measures and the local implementations without any reservation. CCM cadres said that the experience of the CPC in leading Chinese people out of poverty and toward prosperity would serve as a useful reference for the six African parties. All the participating cadres expected to visit Shibadong Village some day, to learn from China’s practice and experience in poverty alleviation.
