Hunan Province has accelerated construction of major scientific and technological innovation platforms, to provide support and development momentum for seizing the commanding heights of science and technology, spawning high and new technology, and cultivating new economic growth points, according to the Hunan Provincial Department of Science and Technology on May 26, 2022.
Hunan will optimize and improve the laboratory system provincewide. It has speeded up the establishment of “Four Major Laboratories”, including the Yuelu Mountain Laboratory, Yuelu Mountain Industrial Innovation Center (Laboratory), Xiangjiang Laboratory, and Furong Laboratory. A laboratory system with reasonable field layout, clear positioning, and distinct advantages is being formed at an accelerated pace. It is led by the “Four Major Laboratories”, aims at the establishment of national laboratories, focus on the national key laboratories, develops a network of provincial key laboratories, and coordinates other national innovation platforms.
Hunan will accelerate construction of scientific and technological infrastructure to serve the needs of major scientific research and industrial development. The National Supercomputing Center in Changsha is speeding up upgraded construction. It will build a high-precision 64-bit general-purpose supercomputing system with a computing power of no less than 200PFlops, a data storage capacity of no less than 20PB, and the peak power consumption of no more than 8 megawatts, which will be put into operation within this year. In Changsha Jinxia Economic and Technological Development Zone, the construction of the world’s second world-class large aircraft ground dynamics test platform has completed most of the civil work, and COMAC’s first set of experimental equipment has been commissioned and is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
