A report on Chinese cities' attractiveness index in 2022 was recently released by the South Reviews Institute and Yan Finance. Changsha ranked 9th among Chinese cities in terms of attractiveness.
According to the report, the top 10 cities in terms of attractiveness index are Beijing, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Nanjing, Chengdu, Changsha and Ningbo. Based on capital attraction and talent attraction, the attractiveness index evaluates top 200 Chinese cities by GDP from 13 dimensions and over 30 basic indicators.
The report showed that, the investment attractiveness of the popular cities, such as Changsha, Ningbo, Zhengzhou, Xi'an, Wuhan, Qingdao, Tianjin, Chongqing, Jinan, Xiamen, Nanchang and Guiyang, is improving. They are usually provincial capital cities, sub-provincial cities, cities separately listed in the state plan or municipalities directly under the Central Government. They have high administrative level and are also local political, economic, cultural, scientific and technological, and educational centers.
For example, Changsha's house price to income ratio is the lowest among provincial capital cities, sub-provincial cities and municipalities directly under the Central Government (only the top 200 cities in economic aggregate are measured), and its residents enjoy a strong sense of happiness, making it attractive to college students. The number of higher education institutions associated with Project 985 in Changsha ranks third in China, only after Beijing and Shanghai. The number of college students in Changsha is about 700,000, ranking ninth in China. The number of hospital beds per 1,000 people ranks eighth nationwide.
