The main structure of the flood-diversion sluice on Gongshuangcha Embankment at Shizigeng Village, Sihushan Town, Yuanjiang has been completed as of May 11. Supporting facility decoration has begun. The sluice will be put into operation in June.

It is one of the 172 key water conservancy projects designated by the State Council which were launched in 2014. Starting construction on September 1, 2019, this project has a total investment of 270 million yuan. Upon operation, its flood storage capacity will reach 1.851 billion cubic meters. It will ease flood prevention pressure in the Yangtze River's middle and downstream areas, and safeguard the lives and property of more than 170,000 residents living near the embankment.
