The orders for related hotels and homestays, which have been fell into the category of “camping” on the platform, grew by 153% compared with the Qingming Festival holiday last month.
Qunar big data noted that as of May 4, the bookings of camping-related products such as accommodation and travel trips during this May Day holiday were 300% higher than those of last year. The sales of camping park tickets increased by more than 50% year on year. The number of hotel reservations around the campsites rose by 150% year on year.
Culture and tourism consumption coupons in various places have played a “leverage role”, leading into a significant increase in the bookings of homestays in the province during the May Day holiday. In Zhangjiajie, the number of homestay reservations surged by 4300% compared with the previous week, especially those near the Wulingyuan Scenic Area, Tianmen Mountain Scenic Area, Grand Canyon Scenic Area, and Jiutian Fenglian Scenic Area, where free admission were offered. In addition, the number of homestay bookings in Xiangtan and Yiyang was also up by over 3000%.
