According to the Hunan Maglev Group on May 1, this project pioneers the "Maglev + Culture + Tourism" mode in China. The project is designated to be a comprehensive tourism brand that integrates "maglev transportation, tourism and leisure, cultural exhibitions and performances, and science popularization tours". - Showcase four different themes of "Impression of Fenghuang Ancient Town", "Memory of Tuojiang River", "Eye of Fenghuang Ancient Town", and "Charm of the Miao Family";
- Display a sound and light performance in the tunnels along the route to bring a special audio-visual experience to passengers;
- Build the “Auspicious Fenghuang” project next to the Fenghuang Waiting Station, which has three business patterns: entertainment and performance, cultural tourism business, and maglev theme boutique hotels; and,
- Develop a nationally-known destination for maglev themed science popularization tours and tourism.

The maglev line connects with the Zhangjiajie-Jishou-Huaihua High-speed Railway. The first phase of the project is 9.121 kilometers long. It starts at the Fenghuang Ancient Town Station of the Zhangjiajie-Jishou-Huaihua High-speed Railway, passes through the Tourist Service Center in the north of the town, and finally reaches the tunnel entrance of the Folk Park in the direction of the Ring Road 209.
