Hunan FTZ Achieves Fruitful Results in Q1

A teleconference analyzing the commerce and open economy operation of Hunan Province in the first quarter was held on April 28, 2022. It reported the completion of the reform pilot tasks, foreign trade and investment promotion in the Hunan Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ).

As of the end of this March, 114 of the 121 reform pilot tasks in the "General Plan" have been implemented, with a task implementation rate of 94.2%. There were 297 of the 321 specific measures in the "Implementation Plan" being carried out, with an implementation rate of 92.5%. 

There were 507 enterprises engaged in foreign trade in the Hunan FTZ in Q1, up 23.36% year on year, and an increase of 96 compared with the same period last year. The total import and export volume was over 35 billion CNY, a year-on-year increase of 4.7% and accounting for more than 30% of the provincial total.

In the first quarter of this year, the actual use of foreign investment in Hunan FTZ reached 83.87 million USD, a year-on-year increase of 95.09% and accounting for 4.66% of the province’s total. There were 2,859 enterprises newly established, including 2,854 domestic-funded and 5 foreign-funded enterprises. There were 50 newly-introduced major projects, with a total investment of about 52 billion CNY. Among them, there were 7 projects invested by enterprises on the list of “Global Fortune 500 Companies, China's Top 500 Companies, and China's Top 500 Private Companies”.

In terms of international logistics, there were 130 waypoints on the passenger air routes in Q1, including 129 domestic ones and 1 international one. There were 15 waypoints on the cargo air routes, including 4 domestic and 11 international ones. A total of 263 China-Europe Express trains were operated in Hunan Province, delivering 180,500 tons of goods.
