"The Dreams of Lady Xin Zhui", a digital exhibition featuring the restoration of cultural relics unearthed from the Changsha Mawangdui Han Tombs, debuted at the Digital Art Museum of Yingwanzhen Subway Station on April 25. Its visual content was inspired by visual elements of the play under the same name. It brings vivid and immersive experience to subway passengers.
The exhibition was jointly created by the Hunan Museum and the Changsha Metro Group, as part of their innovative exploration under the background of cultural and tourism integration. Unique art designs and modern high-tech multimedia visual images are integrated to present an immersive and dreamlike audio-visual feast and bring cultural relics back to life.
Based on cultural relics unearthed from the Mawangdui Han Tombs, the exhibition combines the restoration and display of historical relics with traditional Chinese Peking opera performances. It tells the story of how Lady Xin Zhui, the wife of Marquis Li Cang, also chancellor of the Changsha Kingdom, during the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC - 25 AD), followed her husband’s wishes and taught her son to defend the country. The exhibition has received high attention from the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and has been included in Hunan’s demonstration projects for cultural and tourism integration.
In addition to the digital visual content, a physical exhibition and a flash mob activity themed on the play “The Dreams of Lady Xin Zhui” will be held at the Yingwanzhen Subway Station. Passengers will have a chance to enjoy wonderful stills, learn about details of cultural relics, and take photos. This will enable them to learn the stories behind the play and appreciate the charm of cultural relics.
