Hunan to Invest 100 Billion Yuan in Transport Sector in 2022

Hunan Province's transport investment remains high this year, according to the Hunan Provincial Department of Transportation on April 21. The total investment in the transport sector increased 78.1% year on year to 17.62 billion yuan in the first quarter of this year. It is expected to complete an investment of 100 billion yuan in the sector in 2022. Construction of 23 ongoing highways projects will be accelerated. A total of 5,000 km of roads will be built to boost local businesses and tourism and facilitate farming life and production in rural areas.

Pingjiang-Wushi, Wushi-Yiyang, Ningxiang-Shaoshan, Jiangbei-Ganshan and Chenglingji expressways will be completed and opened to traffic in the year.

Expansion project of Leiyang-Yizhang section along the Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway, expansion project of Jinyushi-Liling section along the Shanghai-Kunming Expressway, and Guiyang-Xintian Expressway will start construction.

A total of 6,000 km of rural roads will be built with security facilities.

The first phase of the 1,000-ton waterway of the Xiangjiang River between Yongzhou and Hengyang will be completed this year. The construction of the waterway of Lishui River between Shimen and Lixian counties and the second phase of the 1,000-ton waterway of the Xiangjiang River between Yongzhou and Hengyang will be pushed forward. The construction of two waterways and four ports will be started within the year.

Beyond that, Hunan Province will deepen the integration of urban and rural passenger transport, complete the examination and acceptance of the second batch of 20 demonstration counties in this regard, and realize a full coverage of the installation of rural passenger transport intelligent supervision equipment in counties.
