The CPC Hunan Provincial Committee held a meeting in Changsha on the morning of April 19, 2022. It highlighted implementing the strategy of strengthening the provincial capital and promoting the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan (CZT) Metropolitan Area construction.

Zhang Qingwei, secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and director of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial People’s Congress, attended and delivered a speech. He asked to thoroughly implement the spirit of President Xi Jinping’s important speeches, directives, and instructions on Hunan; resolutely carried out the decisions and arrangements made by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council; and, achieve wonderful results in implementing the strategy of strengthening the provincial capital and promoting the CZT Metropolitan Area construction.

Mao Weiming, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and governor of Hunan Province, delivered a speech. Li Weiwei, chairwoman of the CPPCC Hunan Provincial Committee, attended. Zhu Guoxian, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, presided over the meeting.

Provincial leaders Wang Shuangquan, Li Dianxun, Wu Guiying, Sui Zhongcheng, Xie Weijiang, Yang Haodong, Zhang Yingchun, Liu Lianyu, He Baoxiang, Chen Fei, Xu Xianhui and Wang Yi'ou were present.

Secretary Zhang noted that the CZT integrated development is a major strategy consistently promoted by successive provincial Party committees and governments, and has become a strategic support for Hunan’s modernization. Implementing the strategy of “strengthening the provincial capital” and promoting the construction of the CZT Metropolitan Area is a major event related to the development of the whole province. He called for:

- Consciously regarding it as a reality test of remaining loyal to the establishment of both Comrade Xi Jinping’s core position on the Party Central Committee and in the Party as a whole and the guiding role of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and upholding Comrade Xi Jinping’s core position on the Party Central Committee and in the Party as a whole and upholding the Central Committee’s authority and its centralized, unified leadership;

- Taking it as an important carrier to give full play to Hunan’s advantageous geographical location on the transitional “belt” connecting the eastern coastal area with the central and western areas, and in the junction “zone” between the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the Coastal Economic Belt, and implement the positioning, missions, and tasks of the “Three Hubs and Four New Missions” Strategy;

- Focusing on an accurate understanding of the new stage of development, applying a new philosophy of development, fostering a new pattern of development, and promoting high-quality development; and,

- Making new breakthroughs in promoting the strategy of strengthening the provincial capital and the CZT Metropolitan Area construction at a new starting point.
