At 20:14 on April 19th, with the maiden flight taking place, the intercontinental all-cargo air route between Changsha and Mexico City officially opened, thus building an "air bridge" between Changsha and Mexico, North America.

The route was opened by the Hunan Logistics Branch of China Post Group Co., Ltd. and the Hunan Yuanrun Air Cargo Transportation Co., Ltd., subordinate to Yuanrun Holdings Co., Ltd., based on their existing resources. It aims to expand Changsha's international postal network and promote the development of an air freight postal service. The first plane carried postal parcels, cross-border e-commerce goods, and anti-epidemic supplies, with a total weight of nearly 47 tons.

The route is scheduled to have three to six flights a week, with a maximum load of 50 tons. It mainly carries international post, express, and cross-border e-commerce goods. It is expected to have a monthly global air cargo throughput of more than 1,000 tons.

The opening of the route can effectively expand the air logistics channels of the Changsha Huanghua International Airport (Changsha airport), facilitate Hunan's advanced manufacturing industry to extend to the high-end part of the value chain, and attract South China’s cross-border e-commerce industry to gather in Changsha.

The continuous expansion of Changsha airport's international cargo route network will help give full play to the joint role of major opening-up platforms such as the Hunan Pilot Free Trade Zone, the Changsha Airport Economy Demonstration Zone, the Changsha National Cross-Border E-commerce Comprehensive Pilot Zone, and the integrated supervision over international post, express packages, and cross-border e-commerce goods. It will also enhance Changsha airport's competitive advantage in the global supply chain and promote Changsha to become a hub of reform and opening-up in inland areas.
