Changsha held a press conference on April 14 afternoon to brief the media on the latest COVID-19 prevention and control situation.

Since March 14, Changsha had reported 32 COVID-19 cases and all patients had been discharged from hospitals. As of April 14, there have been no new cases reported for 11 consecutive days. All the lockdown, control, and prevention areas had been cleared. The medium-risk areas were downgraded to low-risk category.

The Changsha Health Commission reminded that, lifting lockdown by no means equals to loosening prevention, while dynamic zero-COVID never means zero-risk. Everyone should stay vigilant at all times and strictly follow COVID-19 countermeasures.

According to expert assessments, the Yali Middle School and the Yali-Peicui School had met the conditions for class resumption, and will resume classes on April 18. After resumption, epidemic prevention and control will still be a top priority. Resident students will stay at their schools, and other students and faculty are required to follow the home-school rule. COVID-19 nucleic acid testing should be conducted as required. All gathering activities, including after-school caring and training, are suspended. Health checks should be carried out twice a day. All students and faculty are required to wear masks at school.

Related policies at national and provincial levels have been issued to relieve market participants’ difficulties in production and business operations due to the epidemic. Changsha will also roll out relief measures, on both inclusive and targeted basis, to lower costs, energize market participants, and optimize business environment. The targeted relief measures will cover the sectors of manufacturing, catering services, wholesale and retail, culture and tourism, transportation, and logistics, in addition to the inclusive ones.
