On April 12, Mao Weiming, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and governor of Hunan Province, inspected construction of the international land port in Huaihua City. He then held a meeting to discuss and arrange related work.

He asked to thoroughly implement the spirit of President Xi Jinping’s important speeches, directives, and instructions on Hunan; give full play to Hunan’s advantageous geographical location on the transitional “belt” connecting the eastern coastal area with the central and western areas, and in the junction “zone” between the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the Coastal Economic Belt; integrate into the New Land-Sea Corridor in West China; and, accelerate the Huaihua International Land Port construction.

He called for the establishment of a strategic platform for Hunan's integration and joint construction of the “Belt and Road” initiative, an important base for opening-up of the inland regions, an important hub for the central and western regions to connect the ASEAN countries, and an important engine for high-quality development of the Wuling mountainous areas.
