Between April 3 and 4, Hunan Province sent two batches of medical teams to Shanghai Municipality and Jilin Province's Changchun City to support the local fight against the COVID-19 epidemic, according to the decisions and requirements of the medical treatment team of the State Council joint prevention and control mechanism against COVID-19.
The first batch of Hunan medical team to Shanghai includes 104 medical staffers, with an average age of 33. The youngest is 23 years old. Forty-two of them are CPC members. They will support local nucleic acid testing work. The medics are from Changde City, Yongzhou City, Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, and some ministerial and provincial medical institutions.
The medical team sent to Changchun includes 302 experienced medical staffers in epidemic prevention and medical treatment, with an average age of 33. The oldest is 59 years old and the youngest is 22. They will take over the management of local makeshift hospitals. They were assigned from top hospitals of Zhuzhou, Xiangtan, Changde, and Chenzhou cities. Some of them have participated in COVID-19 assistance for several times. All medical staff members participated in hospital infections prevention trainings and passed the examinations. At present, Hunan Province has sent two batches of medical teams consisting of 459 people to Jilin Province.
