Changsha held a press conference on April 1 afternoon to brief the media on its latest COVID-19 prevention and control efforts. On the same day, two people tested positive during nucleic acid tests among the quarantined people in Changsha, and two confirmed cases were discharged from the hospital.
Li Weidong, deputy director of the Changsha Municipal Health Commission, released information on the city’s latest epidemic prevention and control efforts and discharged cases. He called for all-out efforts to speed up the “dynamic zero-COVID” progress during the upcoming Qingming Festival holiday.
Liu Jun, deputy director of the Changsha Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, introduced the epidemic prevention and control work and the spring ploughing in rural areas. He called for measures to reduce the two-way personnel flow between rural and urban areas during the Qingming Festival holiday. This will effectively reduce the risks of imported cases and cluster infections.
Zhu Dejun, deputy director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Tianxin District Committee, introduced the district's newly-reported cases and corresponding an-epidemic measures.
Deputy Director Li Weidong said that, the epidemic situation in Changsha is still grim and complex. As the Qingming Festival approaches, the city is faced with high risk and pressure from imported cases. The whole city should take swift, targeted and decisive measures to cut off the transmission chain of the virus, so as to achieve the “dynamic zero-COVID” goal as soon as possible. In view of the rapidly-growing locally transmitted cases in Shanghai, it is necessary to resolutely implement the control measures of “seven-day centralized quarantine for medical observation and seven-day health monitoring at home” for people coming or returning to Changsha from Shanghai.
In order to safeguard the health and safety of citizens, he asked to avoid unnecessary travels and choose green and low-carbon tomb-sweeping activities during the Qingming Festival holiday. He also urged the public to avoid peak periods for tomb-sweeping, reduce gatherings, take good personal protection, and consciously follow the requirements for epidemic prevention and control.
